Founded by Pierre Lazare, PRL Design is dedicated to excellence in residential architecture. Whether it's a small-scale renovation, a thoughtful addition, or the design of an entirely new home, we approach every project with dedication and creativity, delivering customized solutions that meet our clients' unique needs.

​Though PRL Design is a newly established firm, our founder brings over 20 years of expertise in the architectural field. His career has been shaped by experience at four esteemed firms, most notably during his time at Fox Architects under the mentorship of Michael Fox. Michael’s guidance instilled invaluable knowledge and lasting principles that continue to inspire the thoughtful approach we bring to every project.

Our Process
Schematic Design
This early phase of the design process focuses on exploring creative possibilities and establishing the overall vision for your project. We begin by developing a range of schematic plan options tailored to your goals and site conditions. Once prepared, we meet—either in person or via Zoom—to review the concepts together, discuss preferences, and gather your feedback. Based on that input, we refine the drawings to reflect your priorities and set the foundation for the next stage of design.

Construction Documents
Following approval of the schematic design, we prepare detailed construction drawings to guide the building process. These include architectural plans, elevations, key details, and electrical layouts for the proposed new construction, along with demolition plans outlining existing conditions to be removed. We also coordinate with structural engineers to ensure the structural drawings are fully integrated and aligned with the architectural intent.

Permitting & Bidding
We prepare bid documents and invite builders to submit proposals. Each is walked through the project, with questions addressed and meeting notes shared to ensure clarity. Once bids are received, we review them carefully to confirm the scope is understood, then meet with the clients to select the right builder. We also ensure all drawings and documents are ready for permitting, file the application, and work directly with reviewers to resolve any questions during the approval process.

Construction Administration
This is the most critical phase, where design becomes reality and coordination is key. We stay actively involved throughout construction to ensure everything proceeds smoothly and aligns with the approved plans. Our role includes:

Monitoring the schedule to help keep the project on track and flag potential delays early.

Attending milestone meetings to review progress, address issues, and maintain clear communication between all parties.

Answering questions from both the builder and the client to resolve uncertainties and maintain momentum.

Providing supplemental drawings when needed to clarify design intent or respond to site conditions.

Assisting with finish selections when clients request guidance on owner-provided materials, ensuring choices align with the overall vision.
